Cookie Policy
Effective Date: January 1, 2026 · Transparent & Minimal Cookie Architecture
🍪 Summary of Cookie Practices
IECC uses first-party session cookies exclusively for essential functionality (authentication, timed examination state persistence, and CSRF protection) and security telemetry (bot mitigation). We do not deploy cross-site behavioral advertising trackers or sell browsing profiles to third-party data brokers.
1. What Are Cookies & Web Storage?
Cookies are small alphanumeric text files placed on your computer, tablet, or mobile device by websites that you visit. They are widely used to make web applications function efficiently, preserve user login sessions across page navigations, and provide secure operational telemetry.
2. Categories of Cookies We Deploy
A. Strictly Necessary & Examination Session Cookies (Essential)
These cookies are indispensable for operating the candidate portal and proctored examination rooms. They maintain your authenticated candidate session, ensure CSRF form security, prevent session hijacking, and persist your examination progress and answers in real time. Without these cookies, you cannot log in or complete assessments.
B. Security & Anti-Abuse Cookies
We deploy Cloudflare Turnstile tokens and rate-limiting session cookies to distinguish human candidates from automated scrapers, brute-force bots, and DDoS threats, preserving platform stability for all test-takers.
C. Affiliate Partner Attribution Cookies
When you visit the IECC platform via an authorized educator or partner referral link (e.g. /r/{code}), a first-party 60-day attribution cookie (iecc_affiliate) is stored. This ensures that qualifying partner educators receive their credit when you subsequently claim an official credential package. This is a non-essential cookie: it is only set after you consent via our cookie banner ("Accept All"). Choosing "Essential Only" prevents this cookie from being stored, and withdrawing consent later deletes it.
3. How to Control and Manage Cookies
You can manage, restrict, or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies;
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data;
- Apple Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data;
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies.
4. Impact of Blocking Cookies on Active Examinations
Because our examination engine uses encrypted session tokens to synchronize real-time timers and auto-save question selections, blocking strictly necessary first-party cookies will prevent you from starting or submitting assessments.
5. Questions & Contact
If you have any questions about our use of cookies or telemetry data, please contact our technical compliance team at contact@iecc.digital.
